Drug-Aware disposable saliva, urine and breath alcohol test kits and electronic breathalyzer units:
Several alcohol tests are available to give our customers maximum flexibility in how they wish to collect the sample. Our saliva alcohol test kit – the AlcoScreen – provides you with a clear indication of the patient’s blood alcohol concentration from zero tolerance to several times over the UK legal drink drive limit, while our Home Office approved breathalyzer unit – the AlcoCheck - measures breath alcohol against the legal limit. This is a commercially available version of the test used by the British Police for over 30 years.
If you are monitoring abstinence, the Alco-Screen can also be used on urine samples to extend the detection window, as the bladder is the last place that alcohol is found before exiting the body.
For higher volume users, you may wish to consider an electronic breathalyzer unit to reduce your overall annual costs. We have a non evidential digital breath alcohol unit – the AlcoMate Pro – which is very easy to use and your only ongoing cost is disposable mouthpieces (purchased in lots of 100) and 6 monthly calibration. The evidential alternative, for those potentially requiring the result to stand up in court, is the Alcometer 500.

Drug-Aware drug awareness training, drugs and alcohol policy development, and training in workplace employee screening procedures:
Many companies now adopt the approach of a caring employer and have a substance misuse policy to protect their employees from the detrimental effects of drugs and alcohol in the workplace. However, setting up and implementing a policy can be daunting to say the least! We can take care of everything for you, or train your management staff so that they start out on the right foot. We even review existing policies to offer improvements which make them more legally defensible or more user friendly and streamlined on a daily basis.
In any event, having managers and staff familiar with how to recognise the signs and symptoms of drug / alcohol abuse in the workplace, knowing how to recognise the substances themselves (along with the associated paraphernalia) and fully understanding their legal obligations is vital in today’s working environment. So whether you have a policy or not, this is a great starting point.
Not all company substance misuse policies involve drug testing, but when they do we feel it is invaluable to train management in how to either conduct the screening (chain of custody procedures) or at least to give them a sound base of knowledge for when our on-site collection staff collect samples on your behalf.
For all topics, training sessions can begin at 1 hour staff briefings and can extend up to 2 day workshops. Half day seminars for lower management and 1 day sessions for senior management are the most common solution to your awareness training needs.
